Editorial Policy

Last updated: September 16, 2026

This Editorial Policy sets out the standards every piece of content on prioritypeople.org is held to. It exists so you can judge our work by a published standard rather than taking our word for it.

1. Our Core Principle

The reader’s interest comes before any commercial interest. Always.

If a recommendation would be good for our revenue but bad for the reader, it does not get published.

2. Editorial Independence

  • No brand, advertiser or affiliate partner has any influence over our rankings, scores or verdicts.
  • No third party reviews, approves or receives advance copies of our content.
  • Commission rates are never a factor in what we recommend or in what order.
  • We decline payment in exchange for positive coverage, guaranteed placement or the removal of criticism.
  • Advertising and sponsored content, if ever published, is clearly labelled as such and kept visually separate from editorial content.

3. How We Research

  1. Define the reader’s job. We start from the task the product needs to do, not from the product catalogue.
  2. Build the candidate list. We survey the category broadly, including budget options and less-marketed brands.
  3. Compare specifications. Claims are checked against manufacturer documentation and, where possible, independent data. Unverifiable marketing claims are flagged as such.
  4. Analyse real ownership data. We read verified owner reviews at scale — especially critical ones — looking for repeated failure modes, durability issues and support problems that only appear after months of use.
  5. Add hands-on and expert input. Where we have direct access to a unit or to a qualified specialist, that experience shapes the verdict and is described in the article.
  6. Assess value, not just price. A cheap product that fails in six months is not good value; a premium product is only recommended when the extra cost buys something real.
  7. Write the verdict plainly. Every recommendation states who it is for and, just as importantly, who should skip it.

4. What Disqualifies A Product

  • Documented safety problems or active recalls
  • Consistent, repeated reports of early failure
  • Specifications that cannot be substantiated
  • Evidence of manipulated or incentivised reviews
  • Absent or unreachable customer support and warranty service

5. Accuracy & Sourcing

  • Factual claims are traceable to manufacturer documentation, testing bodies, regulatory sources or clearly identified owner feedback.
  • We distinguish between what we measured, what we observed and what we are reporting from other sources.
  • Prices and availability are described as changeable, because they are.
  • We do not present affiliate marketing copy as our own analysis.

6. Updates & Freshness

Product categories move quickly. We review our guides on a recurring schedule and additionally whenever a model is discontinued or replaced, a recall or safety notice is issued, a significant new competitor launches, or a reader alerts us to a problem. Substantive updates change the article’s “last updated” date; minor typo fixes may not.

7. Transparency About Money

This Site earns affiliate commissions. That is disclosed prominently on our Affiliate Disclosure and FTC Disclosure pages, and it changes nothing about our rankings.

8. Mistakes

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we correct them openly and note what changed — see our Corrections Policy.

9. Use Of Research Tools & AI

We may use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, to help gather, organise and draft information. All published content is reviewed and edited by a human before publication, and a human is accountable for its accuracy. Tools never make the final recommendation.

10. Guest Posts & Link Requests

We do not accept paid guest posts, paid link insertions or “content collaborations” that exist to place a link. Unsolicited pitches of this kind are declined without response.

11. Limits Of Our Advice

Our content is general information, not professional advice. Installation, safety and regulatory requirements vary by location and situation. Read the manufacturer’s manual and consult a qualified professional where the task requires one.

12. Hold Us To This

Independent comparisons, written by people who read the warranty fine print so you don't have to. No brand pays for a place in our rankings.
